A day in London

Hello Lovelies!

Me and Lizzie, who is Awkward Queen, went to London last wednesday. I think we'd been planning to go London for a couple of months, but have never had the opportunity, so we decided to make a date during the week, made sure we weren't working etc and finally went! It was a really lovely day. We went to Oxford Street (obvs), Carnaby Street, Covent Garden and then got thoroughly lost in Kensington when we went to Harrods. We saw some interesting sights and bought myself some lovely purchases. I probably spent way too much money but it was definitely worth it!

Good ol' Shakespeare looking out from the 'Shakespeare's Head' in Carnaby Street

The Choccywoccydoodah shop in Carnaby Street - chocolate heaven! If you've seen the program you'll know.
Then we trundled to Covent Garden where there are several floating people. Here's Yoda, who was kind enough to wish me peace!
This guy was hilarious and was our view whilst we had lunch. I want to be his friend!
We ate lunch at '21' whose food was really scrummy which was a nice surprise. If you like pizza, this is a good place!
The purchases I made! Some gorgeous vintage Levi's denim shorts from Rokit for a beautiful £24!! Plus 2 MAC lipsticks.

I got 'Morange ' and 'Impassioned ' which I am delighted with. I'll do another post reviewing their success another time :)

So that was our day in London! We also visited Harrods which made me go incredibly giddy seeing all of the designer clothes. The interior is absolutely beautiful, particularly in the areas where they sell food. We got severely lost inside and outside the shop and we managed to walk in a giant circle about 3 times. But if you are visiting London, I'd recommend Harrods a visit, even if you can't afford a single thing and feel like a ragamuffin going in! Has anyone else had a good day in London recently?

I'm going to see 'The Rite of Spring' by Stravinsky at the Royal Festival Hall for its centenary anniversary from when it was first performed, so I'll be sure to let you know how that goes! But for now, here is 'Radioactive' by Imagine Dragons which I have becomed obsessed with recently.

'Twas the Season

Hello Everyone!

I'm sorry for the massively long absence but I've been so busy lately and have had NO camera to take pictures of anything with! So I've had plenty to post about but no pictures. Oh, and my computers completely packed in, so now there's no Photoshop! Fab times. Anyway - Christmas has been absolutely wonderful this year and I've been completely spoilt so I wanted to show you my lovely presents. I've been able to take this photos off my NEW IPHONE 5. It's the most incredible phone ever and the cameras pretty decent so I hope you enjoy these!

So those were my Christmas presents! There are a few that are missing but this is the bulk of them so sorry for bombarding you with so many photos! You can see I was completely spoilt. Some of my faves are my Cranberry coloured disco pants, my Seiko watch, my music, my 'Sopranos are Superior' jim jams and my amazing 'Gryffindor' pillow - my mum got this when I invited her to my place of work in Leavesden. Any guesses? ;) But I love ALL my presents so much, I'm incredibly lucky.

I hope you have all had an amazing Christmas! It's quite sad thinking it's over, but we still have the New Year to celebrate! I am sorry about my lack of posting, but thankyou to everyone whose been popping in, I really appreciate it. Thankyou again, and until next time, Merry Christmas :)

Lots of Love, Alice xxx

Make Up no.2

Hello everyone!
I've a bunch of new make up to talk about.Well it's sort of new; it's stuff that has gathered up over the past few weeks.

So, firstly, when I was in the midst of revision I had a mental breakdown and so I went to town to get a break. To treat myself I bought some new nailpolish: Barry M's Magnetic Nailpolish in Blue.

This nailpolish made me so happy. It's really fun, the way the magnet forms the shapes on your fingers of blue and silver. At some angles, the polish looks like it's in 3D which is really pretty and it like you got a Cat Eye marbles on your fingertips. The shapes turn out really well for the most part and although the shapes don't form over the whole fingernail all of the time, I still love it. At £5 a pot, I think it's really reasonable for the quality, and even I was a bit wary of the price and I am incredibly stingy, but it's completely worth it.

Ahh, so pretty! I apologise for the poor photo but taking a photo with a big arse Nikon was quite hard! Hopefully you can see the outcome though!

The next pieces of makeup are on my face in the above pictures. By the way, this was the photo that I looked least like a bitch and even now I look like a bitch. Sorry, I'm really not one. ANYWAY, the first piece of makeup is MAC's Sheerblush blusher Tenderling colour.

I love this blusher. It's really light but it gives you just a bit of colour on your cheeks for when the light hits it. Plus, it's really good for wearing against heavy eye makeup or heavy lips coz it stops you looking like a whore :D However, being MAC, it is going to be expensive, which is certainly the case in this product at £17.50. I'd buy again if I could but I probably can't for a while, so I really hope it lasts!

I'm also wearing the lovely 'brick' coloured MAC Lip Pencil and the incredible MAC 'Ruby Woo' coloured Retro Matte Lipstick, retailing at £10.50 and £14.50 respectively. More expensive products I know, but these two combined create the most wonderful red lipstick EVER. The colour is really warm and sweet, a real rosy colour. It's the perfect red for me: I'm really pale and so most red lipsticks drown my face and are a bit dark, so this is a godsend! Oh, and the lipstick has the most incredible smell - omg, the smell is so sweet. I would buy the lipstick alone for the smell - it makes me feel happy. The lip liner is amazing for creating a perfect line which is always good!

Anyway, I hope everyone is okay! I'll be back soon! I'm going shopping for holiday stuff tomorrow - so excited. Speak soon!

Make Up

Hello darlings!

Yesterday my mum gave me loads of make up that she doesn't use any more and I spent yesterday evening trying it on. My mum doesn't buy cheap makeup and the stuff she gave me was so amazing, I had to blog about it! Plus, one of my best friends Lizzie, who is Awkward Queen btw, has recently made me obsess about makeup, and I thank her incredibly because I realise how transfoming it can be now. This morning I was trying to go for  a natual look, as if I was going to school or something. I tried taking a picture but because my camera is so shit, it doesn't all show up . But here's an attempt of a picture below:
Luckily, I didn't have to edit it much, I just made it a little brighter, but I did have to reduce the bags under my eyes :S and you can also see the amusing, asymmetrical nature of my hair :) Anyway, for the make up I have on!
This is DiorSkin Foundation by Dior ... or something. Sorry, I'm new to the whole makeup naming thing! Apparantly, this is around £40 which incredibly pricey for any item of makeup, but I have to say, if I could afford it, I would buy this foundation again. It is amazing. This is the first foundation that has perfectly matched my skin tone. I'm so pale I may as well be chalk and this is the lightest shade of the foundation - 'Nude 010'. The foundation is very easy to put on, very light and creamy and when you've put it on, it doesn't look like you have foundation on.
These are both from Benefit: the Get Even face powder and Perfect 10 Bronzing and Highlighting face powder duo. I'm wearing the pink powder from the duo and it's a really lovely, light shimmery powder that's I've put just above my blusher to make my face a bit brighter since I look tired all the time. But I love it so much. The Get Even face powder is a really light powder that just gets rid of any shiny areas. I wear it all the time and it doesn't show up on your face.
The blusher I'm wearing is the colour on the very right of the Estee Lauder All-Over Face Compact. It's gorgeous. Again, it's very light (I'm now realising all my new makeup is light), it's a gorgeous rosy colour (02 Pink Kiss) and it has a tint of shimmer which I think adds a beautiful touch.
The eye shadow is from the Estee Lauder Deluxe EyeShadow in which I used 10 ivory box. Because I'm tired all the time, my eyes can look a bit red so this colour is really good for covering it up and brightening up the eye. The colours in the whole comapct are really lovely and shimmery. Plus, the colours actually have some substance. I've used so many eye shadows where you have to use loads to get any colour bulding up so I'm glad my mum gave me this.

This is all the eye makeup I used! I went slightly overboard methinks! Anyway! The eye shadow I used on top of the Estee Lauder is Lancome Ombre Subtile Duo which is an amazing find. The shades are a light pink and a purple colour and together they create almost a smokey look, but more subtle. It lasts a long time. I've been wearing it for hours and the colours are still showing.
I also used Yves Saint Laurent Eye Colour Touch. You've probably noticed that it looks like the concealer Touche Eclat, but it's not, it's liquid eye shadow. I was a bit skeptical because it is liquid, but it works really well when rubbed in. It's enhanced the smokey look really well. It was slightly annoying to rub in because it clumped up a bit, but I'd use again when doing my eyes, so not too bad :)
The eye liner is Barry M Kohl Pencil. It's alright. It's got a really nice colour, but to be honest I think eye liner pencils are hard to apply and don't create the best lines all of the time. Liquid eye liner or powder is better I think.
The mascara is Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme. I can't say how brilliant this mascara is. It was a bit heavy for my mum and the women at the counter said it was better for younger people. This adds so much volume, it isn't clumpy and it even made me stop using my favourite mascara Rimmel Sexy Curves. This has now taken over. It's brilliant!

Lip time! I had a pink lipstick which was incredibe ... I can't find it anywhere. Anyway, the lipstick I'm wearing is Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv All-Day Lipstick, colour Parallel Red 058, which is very bright and smooth. Plus, it smells great! I only dabbed it on my lips to add a bit of colour because, if I put it on for real to school, I'd look like a whore. I covered it with Benefit Silky-Finish Lipstick, colour Skinny Dip, which is the smoothest and most moisturising lipstick I've ever tried on. it's lovely and silky and smooth. However, because it is so shiny, it doesn't really look like a lipstick and it is more of a gloss, but nonetheless, it is a lovely product.

The last thing I wanted to show you is a compact of vintage eye shadow. My mum has had this when she started gigging in the '70s and it's still in incredible condition! The colours are phenomenal for its age. It's the original brush too! I have got a bit on in the picture but not a lot so you can't really see it. When I put it on properly, I'll show you!

As you can see, I have an amazing mum, who buys amazing makeup which she doesn't like! WOO! :D

Hope you are all good and I'll post soon!

Love Alice!
